“Kukka” is a Malo 39 Classic (Hull number 170) launched in Sweden in July 2002. Malo Yachts are one of Scandinavia’s oldest and most experienced boat builders.

Respected yachting journalist and author Nigel Calder chose the Malo yard to build both his current and his previous yacht.

Her first owner sailed from Sweden to Australia, arriving in Bundaberg, Queensland in August 2007, having completed the voyage from Cuba to Australia single handed. Health problems forced him to abandon his plans and put the boat on the market. She was impeccably decommissioned and stored on the hard in Bundaberg.

Her second owners purchased the boat in April 2009 and spent the 2009 season cruising the east coast of Australia to Cairns and then back to Sydney. In 2010 she cruised from Sydney to New Caledonia and Vanuatu, arriving back in Sydney at the end of October 2010.

http://malo39kukka.blogspot.com Details of original purchase and commissioning in 2009 as well as 2010 cruise.

Her second owners are offering her for sale completely equipped for further cruising. She is an ideal yacht for serious long distance voyaging. Her impeccable build quality, sailing performance and enviable list of options combine to provide a bluewater cruising yacht of the highest calibre.

She is being offered for sale at a realistic price in today's market because her current owners have revised their cruising plans. They bought 'Kukka' expecting to circumnavigate with her, but have since decided to begin their long-term cruising in the northern hemisphere. Their hope is to buy another Swedish yacht in Europe and spend a season or two there before sailing back to Australia.

The “classic” versions of all Malo yachts offer a longer aft deck to incorporate a stern lazarette. In the case of the Malo 39, the deck length is increased to 40’8” and LOA to 41’6”.

“Kukka” has full teak decks in excellent condition. The signature Malo targa arch supports the mainsheet and provides an elegant and convenient attachment for cockpit bimini and complete cockpit enclosure. Canvas replaced 2009.

Cockpit windscreen with laminated glass and opening centre panel.

“Kukka” was hauled in early 2010 prior to leaving for the Pacific. Micron antifouling was applied to hull and Propspeed antifouling to propeller. All zincs were replaced and all through hulls checked.
